The spaces inbetween

Sometimes the beginning is a rather good place to start. You can see how far you’ve come, or see what you truly are. Depending your perspective on life. The pessmistic will always look back at the past and believe that what the see there is their true selves, and try to remould back into that younger, naiver, different person. Take your pick. But the optimistic will see the life inbetween the two points of then and now and not want to lose them for the world.

Is it enough to love?
Is it enough to breathe?
Somebody rip my heart out
And leave me here to bleed
Is it enough to die?
Somebody save my life
I’d rather be anything but ordinary please

I distinctly remember a self, not sure how old, just being young, screaming these lyrics out, twirling round the living room, imagining what it would be like to be a famous pop star with grungy clothes and ‘alternative’ opinions that got admiration and disgust in equal measure. But now that I am older, I can see how these lyrics changed my entire teen years, long after the majority of this album entered the musical wilderness. All of the times I am most proud of is when I took these cliched lyrics to heart and just lived. And fuck everyone else.
